I think this thread deserves a bump. Gonna try it on my laptop with crappy Intel integrated graphics.

Originally by: Vargrh Hey yeah as I said, its a temporary fix that just allows you to skill, undock and move about etc so you can get into the game and do the essentials whilst exploring a second hand gfx card option or a new pc etc. I have tried a few things in game and there is some lag once you are out of the stations. I found that NPC and player ships rendered as solid black with no textures and asteroids dont look right either, just blobs, but the basic engine is functional. Stations and Gates partially render but you get no effects other then sound. Its not great and doesnt look as good as the old classic version but will hopefully stop a few rage quits if people are still skill etc whilst looking at a more permenant option, so thanks very much to Surly Bob for posting this tool.
I've been looking at a cheap AGP card as the ebay auctions are going mental at the moment...
anyone got any ideas on if this one would be compatible with the new build of eve? and if its value for money? I have no idea about gfx cards as I've not needed to upgrade in a decade. GeForce 6200 256MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP)
As vargrh said. I can now use my crappy latop to change skills and set market orders. Great find!
I would not bother with a 6200 card tbh. It was really low end when it was introduced (5 years ago). It does support sm 3.0 but it has seriously bad performance.
I'd go for something a little more decent;
Radeon X1650PRO 512MB

Originally by: Nathan Rees i set my settings like that picture from the other poster.. the apoc splash screens flashes for a brief second then nothing... what do i need to do now?
What kind of graphics card do you have? Try to play with the settings based on the capabilities of the card.

Edited by: Captain Plumbo on 12/03/2009 15:21:21 I can cornfirm that this works works on a really ****ty graphics card;
tried it on a XP2000+/512Mb ram/Geforce4 MX4000 64Mb
The gfx card is basically a geforce2 MX (geforce2 was released 9 years ago )
As Vargrh says, you can change skills and play the market with no problems. The basic engine works, so you can mine/fly around normally - just don't expect shiny graphics

Did you link the exefile.exe in the /bin folder in the .bat file? I don't think this works if you link the eve.exe in the eve install dir.

To the two above: are you running Vista? 3D analyzer will try to copy some temporary files to the directory you placed the eve.bat file. This probably means you will need administrator rights. (I am not familiar with Vista, running XP myself).

OK, I checked the temporary files that 3D Analyze copies to the linked .bat directory, and Force.dll is indeed one of them. The error you get is because 3D Analyze is not permitted to copy/create files in that directory. Are you logged in as administrator?

Nice for you dude! Did you get decent graphics or just really crappy (posted some screens in general forum). Screens along with gfx specs would be nice |

Originally by: RG Sneaker I also have a Dell D600, and the fixed eve session crashes (I think almoste every time I undock). Has anybody seen this and knows a fix? I changed Shader quality and Texture quality to low, but that doesn't help. Also unchecked "Dither" - still no improvement.
You are close to getting it work. Try downloading GPU-Z and check what your card supports. Then look at the (sparse) documentation in help.html located where you extracted 3D Analyze. There is also som documentation here (translated from italian)
You probably have to experiment some with different option to make it work. The settings provided in the screenie in this thread worked for me on a geforce2 gpu. Good luck.

I get an Error saying "There are extra files in your Eve Directory. If you've recently applied a patch you may need to restart" Then it lists the two config_DX.ini and config_GL.ini files..
Any Suggestions?
You can't link Exefile.exe directly! From 3danalyze you must link the eve.bat you created.
Originally by: Captain Plumbo
We can't link exefile.exe directly because 3D Analyze creates a few temporary files in the directory where the linked file is. EVE checks for unknown files on startup and refuses to start because of this, thus the need for the .bat file to point to exefile.exe.

Originally by: RIVER STEVENS Hi, and thanks Bob, I was able to get the game to load enough to train skills, however when I go to mine for ore, I can't click on any of the asteroids, they are a solid transparent black just like my ship and I'm unable to click on either. Does anyone know the fix within the fix for this?
Thanks
Clicking on the overview should work.
